Product FAQs
7 answers
What panelboards accept the Siemens HB2B100 circuit breaker?
This bolt-on breaker is specifically designed for use in Siemens P1, P2, and P3 commercial panelboards.
Can the HB2B100 be installed in a standard residential load center?
No. The HB2B100 is a bolt-on breaker designed for commercial panelboards. Standard residential load centers require plug-on breakers, such as the Siemens QP or HQP series.
How does the HBQ type differ from standard BQ breakers?
The HBQ designation indicates a higher interrupting rating. While standard BQ breakers are rated for 10kAIC at 240V, the HBQ type provides a 65kAIC rating for systems requiring higher fault current protection.
Can the HB2B100 replace a standard BQ2B100 breaker?
Yes, the HB2B100 shares the same physical dimensions and bolt-on mounting configuration as the BQ2B100. It can be used as a direct replacement or upgrade when a higher 65kAIC interrupting rating is required.
What wire sizes can be used with the load side lugs on this breaker?
The load side lugs on the HB2B100 accept 8 to 1 AWG copper wire or 6 to 1/0 AWG aluminum wire.
What does the LI trip function indicate on this breaker?
The LI designation means the breaker provides Long-Time and Instantaneous trip functions. The long-time function protects against sustained overloads, while the instantaneous function trips immediately in the event of a severe short circuit.
Does the HB2B100 provide ground fault or arc fault protection?
No, this is a standard thermal-magnetic circuit breaker. It provides overload and short-circuit protection but does not include Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) or Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI) features.
