This E-Frame breaker is specifically designed for bolt-on installation in Square D NF series panelboards. It is not compatible with NQ or I-Line panelboards.
How many panelboard spaces does the EJB34100SA require?
Although it is a 3-pole breaker, the factory-installed shunt trip requires an additional pole space. Therefore, the EJB34100SA requires four pole spaces in a Square D NF panelboard.
What does the "SA" suffix indicate on the EJB34100SA catalog number?
The "SA" suffix means the breaker comes with a factory-installed 120V AC shunt trip. This accessory allows the breaker to be tripped remotely for emergency power-off (EPO) or control system shutdowns.
Can I add a shunt trip to a standard EJB34100 breaker in the field?
No. Square D E-Frame shunt trips are factory-installed only and cannot be added in the field. You must order the EJB34100SA if your application requires a 120V shunt trip.
Can the EJB34100SA be used in 480V Delta systems?
No. The EJB34100SA is slash-rated for 480Y/277VAC solidly grounded wye systems. It is not rated for ungrounded or corner-grounded 480V Delta systems where the line-to-ground voltage exceeds 277V.
What is the purpose of the shunt trip on the EJB34100SA?
The 120V AC shunt trip allows the breaker to be opened remotely via an external control signal. This is commonly used for emergency power-off (EPO) systems, fire alarm integration, or automated safety shutdowns.
