Built for heavy-duty industrial environments, the Square D FJA34100 is a 3-pole, 100A molded case circuit breaker. It utilizes thermal-magnetic trip technology to deliver dependable long-time and instantaneous (LI) circuit protection. Designed specifically for Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards, this legacy F-frame unit features a high interrupting capacity of 65kAIC at 480VAC. For modern upgrades or replacements, this model is superseded by the PowerPact HJA36100.
What type of panelboards are compatible with the FJA34100?
This breaker is designed exclusively for use in Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards. It features an I-Line style plug-in connection that mounts directly to the panel bus assembly.
Is the Square D FJA34100 still actively manufactured?
The FJA34100 is a legacy F-frame molded case circuit breaker that has been discontinued by Schneider Electric. It has been superseded by the newer PowerPact H-frame series, such as the HJA36100, for I-Line panelboard applications.
What wire sizes and materials are accepted by the lugs on this breaker?
The standard lugs on the FJA34100 accept wire gauges from 14 AWG up to 1/0 AWG. The terminals are rated for use with either copper (Cu) or aluminum (Al) conductors.
What does the J in the FJA frame designation indicate?
In Square D legacy F-frame nomenclature, the J indicates the interrupting capacity level. For this breaker, it signifies a high interrupting rating of 65kA at 480V AC and 100kA at 240V AC.
How does the I-Line style plug-in connection mount to the panel?
I-Line breakers feature plug-on phase jaws that press directly onto the panelboard bus stack, while the opposite end of the breaker is secured to the panel backpan with a mounting bracket and screw. This allows for rapid, modular installation.
Can the FJA34100 be used in DC electrical systems?
Yes, in addition to its AC ratings, this thermal-magnetic breaker is rated for use in DC applications up to 250V DC, with a DC interrupting rating of 10kA.
Are the trip settings on the FJA34100 adjustable?
No, this breaker features a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit. Both the long-time (thermal overload) and instantaneous (magnetic short-circuit) trip functions are factory-set and non-adjustable.
