5 answersWhat is the difference between a standard GFCI and this EPD breaker?
The EGB14020EPD is an Equipment Protection Device (EPD) with a 30mA ground fault trip threshold. It is designed to protect heat tracing, snow melting equipment, and other machinery from damage. It does not provide the 5mA personnel protection offered by standard Class A GFCI breakers.
Which panelboards accept the EGB14020EPD?
This bolt-on E-frame breaker is exclusively designed for Square D NF series lighting and distribution panelboards. It is not compatible with NQ, QO, or I-Line panelboards.
Can I use this to replace an EDB14020EPD or EJB14020EPD?
Yes, the EGB frame shares the exact physical dimensions and mounting footprint as the EDB and EJB frames. The EGB14020EPD provides a 35kA interrupting rating at 277VAC. It can safely upgrade an EDB14020EPD (18kA), but it cannot replace an EJB14020EPD (65kA) if your system fault current requires the higher rating.
How is the ground fault circuit wired during installation?
This breaker features a pigtail neutral wire that must be connected directly to the panelboard neutral bar to power the internal ground fault circuitry. The load neutral must also be connected to the designated terminal on the breaker for proper ground fault detection.
Can the EGB14020EPD be reverse fed?
No. Because this breaker contains electronic ground fault sensing circuitry, it is strictly line-side wired and cannot be reverse fed.

Expedited Shipments
