The -1021 suffix designates a factory-installed 120V AC shunt trip accessory. This allows the breaker to be tripped remotely by applying a 120V control signal, which is frequently used for emergency stop circuits or automated safety interlocks.
How is the 120V shunt trip wired and operated?
The shunt trip requires an external 120V AC power source. When voltage is applied to the accessory leads, the internal coil energizes and mechanically opens the breaker contacts. The control circuit should be independently fused.
