Built for commercial and industrial applications, the Square D JGA262004 is a 200A, 2-pole PowerPacT J-Frame molded case circuit breaker. It provides reliable thermal-magnetic protection for demanding electrical systems. This unit installs into Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards. It serves as a replacement for legacy KA26200 breakers, requiring a BC phase connection. Rated 35kAIC at 480V, this current-limiting breaker includes Visi-Trip technology for quick fault identification.
What type of panelboard is required for the JGA262004?
This breaker is designed exclusively for Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards. It utilizes a plug-on jaw connection that mounts directly to the I-Line bus stack.
What does the G stand for in the JGA262004 catalog number?
The G designates the interrupting rating tier within the Square D PowerPacT series. It signifies a standard interrupting capacity of 65kA at 240V AC and 35kA at 480V AC.
How do you adjust the trip settings on this J-Frame breaker?
The JGA262004 features a thermal-magnetic trip unit with a fixed thermal element for long-time overload protection. The magnetic instantaneous trip is adjustable via a dial on the front of the breaker to coordinate with downstream loads.
Which legacy Square D breakers does the JGA262004 replace?
The PowerPacT J-Frame series is the direct replacement for legacy Square D KA and KC frame circuit breakers. When replacing an older 200A, 2-pole I-Line breaker, the JGA262004 will fit the same bus configuration.
Are the lugs on the JGA262004 rated for aluminum wire?
Yes, the factory-installed lugs are dual-rated for both aluminum and copper conductors. They accept wire sizes ranging from 3/0 AWG to 350 kcmil.
Can the JGA262004 I-Line breaker be reverse fed?
No. Because it is an I-Line breaker, the plug-on jaws must connect to the line side bus of the panelboard. It cannot be reverse fed.
Does this breaker require a separate mounting bracket?
No separate mounting kit is required. I-Line breakers like the JGA262004 come with the necessary mounting bracket integrated into the frame to secure it to the panelboard backpan.
Can this 2-pole breaker be used in a 3-phase I-Line panel?
Yes. While it is a 2-pole breaker, it can be installed in a standard 3-phase I-Line panelboard. It will connect to two of the three phases on the bus stack.
