Serving as the primary disconnect for residential electrical systems, the SDT2200 delivers 200 amps of thermal-magnetic protection. This main breaker is specifically manufactured for use in Square D Trilliant load centers, a legacy line of residential panelboards. It installs easily with a plug-on mounting style and accepts 4 AWG to 300 kcmil wire sizes. Rated for 120/240VAC applications, the unit provides a standard 10kA interrupting capacity and includes line side lugs for quick termination.
What panels are compatible with the SDT2200 main breaker?
This main breaker is designed exclusively for use in legacy Square D Trilliant load centers. It will not fit standard Square D QO or Homeline panels.
How does the SDT2200 connect to the panel bus bar?
It features a plug-on design that snaps directly into the bus bar of a compatible Trilliant load center, simplifying the installation process compared to bolt-on main breakers.
What wire sizes are accepted by the box lugs on this breaker?
The terminals are designed to accept wire gauges ranging from 4 AWG up to 300 kcmil. Always verify that your conductor size meets local electrical codes for a 200-amp service.
Is the Square D Trilliant series still in active production?
No, the Trilliant line of load centers and breakers has been discontinued by Schneider Electric. The SDT2200 serves as a direct replacement component for maintaining existing Trilliant panels.
How does the thermal-magnetic trip unit function on this breaker?
The thermal component provides a delayed trip to protect against sustained overloads, while the magnetic component offers an instantaneous trip to quickly clear severe short circuits.
Is the 10kAIC interrupt rating sufficient for residential service?
A 10kAIC rating at 240V is standard for most residential applications. However, you must verify the available fault current at your specific installation site to ensure this rating meets local utility requirements.
Can the SDT2200 be used as a standard branch breaker?
No, this unit is specifically engineered to serve as a main breaker. It provides primary overcurrent protection for the entire load center and should not be installed as a branch circuit breaker.
