Designed to minimize fault damage, the FCL34035 is a 35A current-limiting molded case circuit breaker from Square D. It actively reduces let-through current to protect downstream commercial and industrial equipment. The breaker features a unit-mount design for easy integration into Square D enclosures, switchboards, and motor control centers. Equipped with fixed thermal-magnetic trip functions, it provides 65 kAIC at 480VAC. This legacy F-frame model is replaced by the newer HJL36035.

Product FAQs
6 answers
What type of enclosures accept the FCL34035?
The FCL34035 is a unit-mount circuit breaker designed for standard Square D enclosures, switchboards, and motor control centers. It does not feature the plug-on jaw connections required for I-Line panelboards.
Is the Square D FCL frame obsolete, and what replaces it?
The legacy F-frame series has been phased out by Schneider Electric. The modern equivalent is the PowerPact H-frame series, though the FCL34035 is still sourced for direct replacements in existing switchboards and motor control centers.
What wire sizes are accepted by the standard lugs on the FCL34035?
The factory lugs accommodate 14 to 1/0 AWG copper conductors or 12 to 1/0 AWG aluminum conductors. Ensure proper torque is applied per the manufacturer label during installation.
How does the current-limiting feature of the FCL34035 benefit a distribution system?
Current-limiting breakers like the FCL34035 clear faults in under a half-cycle, significantly reducing peak let-through current and thermal energy. This protects sensitive downstream equipment and often allows for higher series-combination ratings.
Are the thermal and magnetic trip functions adjustable on the FCL34035?
No, this breaker features a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit. Both the long-time overload and instantaneous short-circuit pickup levels are factory-set and cannot be field-adjusted.
What is the interrupting capacity of the FCL34035 at different voltage levels?
The breaker provides a 65kAIC interrupting rating at its maximum 480VAC. When applied to 240VAC systems, the interrupting capacity increases to 100kAIC.
