What does the 1021 suffix mean on the ME36800LIG1021?
The 1021 suffix indicates that this circuit breaker includes a factory-installed 120/240VAC shunt trip. This allows the breaker to be tripped remotely for emergency shutdowns or automated control systems.
Which panelboards are compatible with this 800A breaker?
This breaker features an I-Line mounting style, making it compatible with Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards. It uses a plug-on phase connection and a screw-on bracket for secure installation.
What protection functions does the LIG electronic trip unit provide?
The LIG designation means the electronic trip unit includes adjustable Long-Time, Instantaneous, and Ground-Fault protection. This allows for precise system coordination and equipment protection against ground faults.
Does this breaker provide ground fault protection for personnel?
No. The ground fault protection on the LIG trip unit is designed for equipment protection, not for Class A personnel protection. It is intended to prevent damage to machinery and electrical infrastructure during a ground fault event.
Is the Square D ME frame still in active production?
The ME frame is a legacy molded case circuit breaker. For new installations or direct upgrades, Schneider Electric has replaced this series with the PowerPact M-Frame and P-Frame circuit breakers.
What wire sizes are accepted by the lugs on this breaker?
The factory lugs accept three conductors per phase, accommodating wire sizes from 3/0 AWG to 500 kcmil for both aluminum and copper wiring.
