Providing remote tripping capabilities, this 30A E-frame unit features a factory-installed shunt trip. It delivers essential thermal-magnetic protection for complex commercial electrical systems requiring automated control. Designed specifically for Square D NF panelboards, the bolt-on mounting ensures a stable connection. Standard aluminum lugs are included for secure wire termination. With an impressive 100 kAIC rating at 240V, it safely clears severe faults to minimize facility downtime.
Can I install the EJB34030SA in an I-Line or NQ panelboard?
No, this E-frame breaker is designed exclusively for Square D NF series panelboards. It will not fit I-Line or NQ panels, which require different breaker frame types.
What does the SA suffix mean on the EJB34030SA catalog number?
The SA suffix indicates that this breaker includes a factory-installed 120VAC shunt trip accessory. This allows the breaker to be tripped remotely for emergency shutdowns or automated control systems.
Does the factory-installed shunt trip require additional space in the NF panelboard?
Yes. While a standard 3-pole E-frame breaker requires three spaces, the EJB34030SA requires four spaces in the panelboard to accommodate the integrated shunt trip mechanism.
Can I field-install a shunt trip on a standard EJB34030 breaker instead of buying the EJB34030SA?
No. For Square D E-frame breakers, shunt trips are factory-installed only and cannot be added in the field. You must purchase the breaker with the SA suffix if a 120VAC shunt trip is required.
Can the EJB34030SA be used on a 480V Delta system?
No, this breaker is rated for 480Y/277VAC solid-grounded wye systems only. It is not suitable for 480V ungrounded or corner-grounded delta systems due to its slash voltage rating.
Are the trip settings on the EJB34030SA adjustable?
No, this breaker features a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit. Both the long-time overload protection and the instantaneous short circuit protection are factory set and cannot be adjusted in the field.
How does the thermal-magnetic trip unit in the EJB34030SA operate?
The thermal-magnetic trip unit provides two types of protection: a thermal mechanism for delayed tripping against sustained overloads, and a magnetic mechanism that trips instantaneously to clear severe short circuits.
