The FAL32050 is a legacy F-frame molded case circuit breaker that has been discontinued by Schneider Electric. For new installations, Schneider Electric recommends crossing this to the newer PowerPact B-frame series, such as the BDL36050, though mounting modifications may be required.
Can I install the FAL32050 in an I-Line panelboard?
No. The FAL32050 is a unit-mount breaker designed to bolt directly to a backpan in enclosures and control panels. If you need a breaker for an I-Line panelboard, you must use the FA32050, which features the I-Line plug-on connection.
What standalone enclosures are compatible with the FAL32050?
The FAL32050 can be installed in Square D FA100 series enclosures, such as the FA100F for flush mounting, the FA100S for surface mounting, or the FA100X NEMA 7 cast aluminum enclosure. These enclosures accommodate 15A to 100A F-frame breakers.
What is the difference between Square D FAL and FHL circuit breakers?
The primary difference is their interrupting capacity. FAL breakers are standard-interrupting, rated at 10kAIC at 240V. FHL breakers are high-interrupting versions designed to safely clear higher fault currents, rated up to 65kAIC at 240V. Both share the same physical F-frame dimensions.
Does the FAL32050 provide adjustable trip settings?
No. The FAL32050 features a standard thermal-magnetic trip unit with fixed thermal and fixed magnetic settings. It does not offer field-adjustable trip dials.
How does the FAL32050 mount inside a panel?
This is a unit-mount, or bolt-on, circuit breaker. It does not plug onto a busbar. Instead, it bolts directly to the mounting surface or backpan in compatible Square D enclosures, switchboards, and control panels.
Are the line and load lugs included with the FAL32050?
Yes, the FAL32050 comes standard with factory-installed mechanical lugs on both the line and load sides. If replacement lugs are needed, the AL100FA lug kit is compatible with this frame.
