Integrating a 120/240VAC shunt trip mechanism, the Square D EHB34060-1082 enables automated or remote circuit interruption for enhanced facility safety. This 3-pole, 60A thermal-magnetic breaker is HACR rated and handles fault currents up to 14kAIC at 480Y/277VAC. Designed for legacy infrastructure, it mounts securely into Square D NEHB panelboards. 6 answersWhat panelboards are compatible with the EHB34060-1082?
This breaker is designed exclusively for legacy Square D NEHB panelboards. It will not fit modern NF or NQ series panelboards.
Is the Square D EHB series still manufactured?
No, the EHB series and the corresponding NEHB panelboards are obsolete. To maintain an existing NEHB panelboard, you must source legacy EHB breakers, as modern EDB or EGB breakers are not physically compatible.
What does the -1082 suffix indicate on this breaker?
The -1082 suffix denotes a factory-installed 120/240V shunt trip accessory. This allows the breaker to be opened remotely by applying a voltage signal to the shunt trip leads, commonly used for emergency stops or automated load shedding.
How is the shunt trip accessory wired?
The factory-installed shunt trip features pigtail leads exiting the breaker housing. These leads must be wired to a remote control switch or relay that provides the 120/240V signal to activate the trip coil.
Can the EHB34060-1082 be used on a 480V ungrounded delta system?
No. Because it carries a 480Y/277V slash rating, it is only approved for solidly grounded wye systems where the line-to-ground voltage does not exceed 277V. It is not rated for 480V ungrounded or corner-grounded delta systems.
Can I replace an EH plug-on breaker with this EHB bolt-on breaker?
Yes, NEHB panelboards are designed to accept both EH plug-on and EHB bolt-on circuit breakers. The panel bus includes tapped mounting holes specifically for securing bolt-on breakers like the EHB34060-1082.
