Can I field-install a shunt trip on a standard QOU 2-pole breaker instead of buying the QOU2601021?
No. Schneider Electric requires shunt trips for QOU series breakers to be factory-installed. You cannot add a shunt trip in the field if the breaker was ordered without the 1021 or 1042 suffix.
How much mounting space does the QOU2601021 require?
Although it is a 2-pole breaker, the factory-installed shunt trip requires an additional pole space. The complete unit takes up three standard 0.75-inch spaces, for a total width of 2.25 inches.
