The HOMT1520 is a CTL (Circuit Total Limiting) tandem breaker. It features a rejection clip and will only install in Square D Homeline load centers that have notched bus bars designed to accept tandem breakers.
Can I use the HOMT1520 for a multi-wire branch circuit with a shared neutral?
No. Because both the 15A and 20A poles on this tandem breaker connect to the same phase (leg) of the panel bus, they cannot share a neutral wire. Sharing a neutral across the same phase will overload the neutral conductor.
Will this breaker fit in a Square D QO load center?
No. The HOMT1520 is exclusively designed for Square D Homeline load centers. It is not compatible with QO series panels, which require QO or QOT series breakers.
How much panel space does the HOMT1520 require?
This tandem breaker provides two independent circuits (one 15A and one 20A) while occupying only one standard 1-inch space in a compatible Homeline load center.
What wire materials are compatible with the HOMT1520 box lugs?
The terminals are rated for both copper (Cu) and aluminum (Al) conductors ranging from 14 AWG to 8 AWG. The recommended tightening torque is 35.4 lb-in.
What does the LI trip function code indicate on this breaker?
The LI designation means this thermal-magnetic breaker provides Long-Time (thermal) protection against sustained overloads and Instantaneous (magnetic) protection against short circuits.
Can I use the HOMT1520 to supply a 240V circuit?
No. This tandem breaker provides two independent 120V single-pole circuits. It does not feature a common trip mechanism or handle tie, so it cannot be used for 240V loads that require a true two-pole breaker.
