This breaker is designed exclusively for Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards. It features a plug-on jaw connection on the line side that snaps directly onto the I-Line busbar.
How much bus space does the HDA36045 require in an I-Line panel?
As a 3-pole PowerPacT H-frame breaker, it requires 4.5 inches of bus space, which equates to 1.5 inches per pole.
What is the recommended torque specification for the load lugs on this breaker?
The HDA36045 uses AL150HD load lugs. The required torque is 44.3 lb-in for 14-10 AWG wire, and 123.9 lb-in for 8-3/0 AWG wire.
Does this breaker include both line and load lugs?
No. As an I-Line breaker, it features plug-on jaws on the line side that connect directly to the panelboard bus. Mechanical lugs are only provided on the load side for your outgoing wire connections.
What is the difference between the HDA36045 and the HGA36045?
The difference is the interrupting rating. The HDA36045 has a D-rated interrupting capacity of 14kA at 600VAC, while the HGA36045 has a higher G-rated capacity of 18kA at 600VAC. Both share the same physical dimensions and 45A trip rating.
How does the trip unit operate on the HDA36045?
It uses a thermal-magnetic trip unit that provides long-time (thermal) protection for overloads and instantaneous (magnetic) protection for short circuits. The thermal trip is fixed at 45 amps, while the magnetic trip is adjustable.
Can the HDA36045 be reverse fed?
No. Because it is an I-Line style breaker with plug-on jaws on the line side and mechanical lugs on the load side, it is not suitable for reverse feed applications.

Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.

Expedited Shipments
