The legacy Challenger A2020 has been superseded by the Eaton BR2020. Both part numbers refer to the same non-CTL 20/20A tandem breaker design.
Are Challenger Type A breakers interchangeable with Eaton Type BR?
Yes. Eaton manufactures the Type BR line as the direct, UL-classified replacement for legacy Challenger Type A breakers. They share the same physical dimensions and plug-on mounting style.
Is the A2020 a CTL or non-CTL breaker?
The A2020 is a non-CTL (Circuit Total Limiting) tandem breaker. It lacks the rejection clip found on CTL breakers, allowing it to be installed in older panels that do not have notched bus bars.
How does the A2020 tandem configuration work?
It provides two independent 20-amp circuits from a single one-inch pole space. Both circuits draw from the same phase leg, meaning they cannot be used to supply a 240V multi-wire branch circuit or a 240V load.

Free Shipping Policy
Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping
We strive to ship out your items the same day the order is placed. In rare circumstances SuperBreakers may reserve up to 5 business days to consolidate orders for complete shipment.
Expedited Shipments
Orders being shipped via Next Day Air, 2 Day Shipping or 3 Day Shipping must be received by 3 PM EST to guarantee same-day shipments. Expedited orders only ship on normal business days. Shipments will NOT be sent out on Saturdays and Sundays.
