Rated for 20 amps, this miniature circuit breaker utilizes a D-curve trip profile to accommodate equipment with very high inrush currents, such as motors and transformers. It delivers reliable protection for demanding commercial and industrial environments. The unit installs quickly onto standard DIN rails inside industrial control panels. This legacy component has been superseded by the 1489-M1D200.

Product FAQs
6 answers
What type of loads is the D-curve trip profile suited for?
The D-curve trip characteristic is engineered for highly inductive loads with significant inrush currents. It is ideal for protecting motors, transformers, and heavy industrial equipment where standard breakers might experience nuisance tripping during startup.
What is the direct replacement for the legacy 1489-A1D200?
Allen Bradley has superseded the 1489-A1D200 with the 1489-M1D200. The newer 1489-M series model maintains the same 20A rating, single-pole configuration, and D-curve trip profile for seamless integration into existing control panels.
Can this breaker be used for branch circuit protection?
Yes, the 1489 series breakers are UL 489 listed. This means they are fully rated for branch circuit protection in industrial control panels and automation systems, unlike UL 1077 supplementary protectors which require an upstream branch breaker.
What type of mounting rail is required for installation?
This miniature circuit breaker snaps directly onto a standard 35mm DIN rail, which is the industry standard for industrial control panels and automation enclosures.
Does this breaker provide current-limiting protection?
Yes, the Allen Bradley 1489 series features a current-limiting design. In the event of a short circuit, it rapidly interrupts the fault current, reducing the let-through energy and minimizing potential damage to sensitive downstream components.
Can the 1489-A1D200 be used in DC control circuits?
Yes, this breaker is rated for DC applications up to 48V DC with a 10kA interrupting capacity. This makes it suitable for low-voltage DC control panels, sensor loops, and automation systems.
