The Eaton BR250 is the direct, modern replacement for the Challenger C250. Eaton acquired the Challenger electrical line, and Eaton Type BR breakers are UL listed for use in older Challenger Type C load centers.
Which load centers are compatible with the C250 breaker?
This breaker is designed exclusively for Challenger Type C, Eaton Type BR, and Westinghouse Type BR load centers. It should not be installed in panels from other manufacturers like Square D or Siemens.
Is the Challenger C250 suitable for HVAC equipment?
Yes, the C250 is fully HACR rated. This means it has been tested and approved for use with heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment that requires a breaker with an HACR designation.
Can I use aluminum wire with the C250 breaker?
Yes, the box lug terminals on the C250 are dual-rated for both copper and aluminum (Cu/Al) conductors, accepting wire sizes from 14 AWG to 4 AWG. Ensure you apply an appropriate oxide inhibitor when using aluminum wire.
Does the C250 provide common trip functionality for 240V circuits?
Yes, the C250 features an internal common trip mechanism. If an overload or short circuit occurs on either leg of the circuit, both poles will trip simultaneously to safely disconnect power to connected 240V equipment.

Free Shipping Policy
Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping
We strive to ship out your items the same day the order is placed. In rare circumstances SuperBreakers may reserve up to 5 business days to consolidate orders for complete shipment.
Expedited Shipments
Orders being shipped via Next Day Air, 2 Day Shipping or 3 Day Shipping must be received by 3 PM EST to guarantee same-day shipments. Expedited orders only ship on normal business days. Shipments will NOT be sent out on Saturdays and Sundays.
International Shipping
