The GFEP220 is a Ground Fault Equipment Protector with a 30mA trip threshold, designed to protect equipment from damage. Standard Class A GFCI breakers have a 5mA trip threshold and are designed for personnel protection.
What applications typically require a 30mA GFEP breaker like the GFEP220?
GFEP breakers are commonly used for equipment that has a naturally higher leakage current where a 5mA GFCI would cause nuisance tripping. Common applications include commercial heat tracing, snow melting equipment, and industrial pumps.
Which load centers are compatible with the GFEP220?
This breaker is designed for use in Eaton and Cutler-Hammer Type BR load centers. It is also backward compatible with older Bryant and Westinghouse panels that accept Type BR plug-on breakers.
Can the GFEP220 be used in an Eaton Type CH load center?
No. The GFEP220 is a Type BR frame breaker and will not fit in Type CH load centers. Type CH panels require breakers with a 3/4-inch width per pole, while Type BR breakers are 1-inch wide per pole.
How is the pigtail neutral on the GFEP220 installed?
The white pigtail wire must be connected directly to the neutral bus bar in the panel. This provides the 120V reference needed to power the breaker's internal ground fault monitoring circuitry.
Can I use the GFEP220 for a straight 240V load that does not use a neutral wire?
Yes. Connect the two hot wires to the breaker terminals and route the breaker's white pigtail to the panel neutral bus. The load neutral terminal on the breaker simply remains empty.

Free Shipping Policy
Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping

Expedited Shipments
