Engineered for specialized applications, this 15-amp Eaton GFEP device provides a 30mA trip threshold to shield machinery from low-level faults. It is specifically designed for equipment protection rather than personnel safety. The compact short-body configuration mounts into standard Type BR panelboards. It features a pigtail neutral connection and utilizes a standard plug-on mounting mechanism. A built-in trip-to-center indicator allows users to quickly identify tripped circuits.
What panels are compatible with the BRN115EP circuit breaker?
This breaker is designed for Eaton Type BR load centers. It is also UL listed for use in legacy Bryant, Challenger, and Westinghouse panels that specify Type BR breakers on their label.
What is the difference between this GFEP breaker and a standard GFCI breaker?
The BRN115EP is a Ground Fault Equipment Protector (GFEP) with a 30mA trip threshold. It is designed to protect machinery and equipment from low-level faults. Standard GFCI breakers have a 5mA threshold and are intended for personnel safety.
What applications typically require a 30mA GFEP breaker like the BRN115EP?
GFEP breakers are commonly used for heat trace cables, snow melting equipment, well pumps, and dedicated machinery where a standard 5mA GFCI might experience nuisance tripping.
Does this breaker require a plug-on neutral panel?
No. The BRN115EP features a pigtail neutral wire that connects directly to the neutral bus bar. This makes it compatible with both standard and plug-on neutral Type BR load centers.
What is the difference between Eaton BRN and BRP catalog numbers?
BRN breakers feature a traditional pigtail neutral connection, while BRP breakers are designed exclusively for Plug-On Neutral (PON) load centers. Because the BRN115EP has a pigtail, it fits a wider range of legacy and modern panels.
How can I tell if the BRN115EP has tripped?
This breaker features a trip-to-center mechanism. When a fault occurs, the handle moves to a center position between ON and OFF, allowing you to quickly identify the tripped circuit in the panel.
