Can I install this Type CH breaker in an Eaton BR series panel?
No. Type CH breakers have a 3/4-inch width per pole and a distinct mounting clip. They are not physically compatible with Eaton BR series panels, which require 1-inch wide breakers.
What protection does the thermal-magnetic LI trip function provide?
The LI (Long-Time, Instantaneous) trip unit uses a bimetallic strip for long-time delay to prevent nuisance tripping on mild overloads, combined with a magnetic mechanism that trips instantaneously during severe short circuits.

Expedited Shipments

When our main breaker frizzed out, the option we were presented with was replacing the entire panel and service due to the type and part - no longer produced for replacement parts. It would be a $6500 replacement.
We'll likely have to do it at some point but, for now, the replacement breaker we were able to source from Superbreakers (with a $25 warranty) was $5900 less expensive. installation ran a few hundred dollars and the tech said the part looked to be in excellent condition and was prepped for install as he would have hoped.
