Engineered for service entrances, this 150A main breaker provides reliable thermal-magnetic overcurrent protection. It features a 25kAIC interrupt rating at 120/240VAC for high-fault residential and commercial applications. The bolt-on unit mounts into Eaton Type BR load centers, ECB unit enclosures, and compatible meter stacks. It accepts 2 AWG to 300 kcmil wiring. This model is replaced by the CSR2150N. HACR-rated for HVAC loads, this two-pole breaker meets UL 489 safety standards.

Product FAQs

Which Eaton enclosures are approved for the BWH2150 main breaker?
The BWH2150 is approved for installation in Eaton Type BR load centers, ECB unit enclosures, meter stacks, and meter breaker combinations that require a BW-frame bolt-on main breaker.
What is the difference between the Eaton BW2150 and the BWH2150?
While both are 150A, 2-pole main breakers with the same physical footprint, the BW2150 is rated for 10kAIC. The BWH2150 is rated for 25kAIC to safely handle higher available fault currents at the service entrance.
Why would a panel require a 25kAIC main breaker like the BWH2150 instead of a standard 10kAIC breaker?
A 25kAIC rating is required when the utility transformer or service entrance conditions can deliver a fault current higher than 10,000 amps. The BWH2150 safely interrupts up to 25,000 amps at 240V, preventing equipment damage during severe short circuits.
What are the conductor requirements for wiring the BWH2150?
The factory-installed lugs accept 2 AWG to 300 kcmil copper or aluminum conductors. Because this is a bolt-on main breaker, the line-side service conductors must be properly sized for a 150A service and torqued to Eaton specifications.
Can the BWH2150 be used as a standard branch breaker?
No. The BWH2150 is part of the BW frame family and is specifically designed to function as a main breaker in service entrance equipment. It cannot be used as a standard plug-on branch breaker.
Is the BWH2150 compatible with legacy Cutler-Hammer panels?
Yes. Eaton acquired Cutler-Hammer, and their breaker lines are fully interchangeable. The BWH2150 can be installed in older Cutler-Hammer Type BR load centers and enclosures that accept BW or BWH frame main breakers.
