The Eaton/Cutler-Hammer CL130 is a 1 Pole thermal magnetic molded case circuit breaker with a current rating of 30 Amps and a voltage rating of 120/240VAC. It has an interrupting rating of 10kAIC at 240V. The CL130 has a plug-in connection type and includes long time and instantaneous trip functions.
What load centers are compatible with the Eaton CL130?
The Eaton CL130 is a 1-inch Type CL classified breaker. It is UL-classified for use in specific competitor load centers, including models from Square D Homeline, Siemens, General Electric (GE), Murray, Crouse-Hinds, and Thomas & Betts. Always check your panel label to confirm UL-classified compatibility.
Can I install the CL130 in a Square D QO panel?
No. The CL130 is a 1-inch breaker designed for panels like Square D Homeline. Square D QO panels require 3/4-inch breakers. For a QO panel, you would need an Eaton CHQ series classified breaker instead.
Is the Eaton CL130 a safe replacement for a Siemens or GE 30-amp breaker?
Yes, Eaton CL series breakers are rigorously tested and UL-classified as direct replacements for specific 1-inch breakers in Siemens, GE, and other approved panels. This classification ensures it meets National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements when installed in approved panel combinations.
How much panel space does the CL130 require?
The CL130 is a standard 1-inch miniature circuit breaker. It requires a single 1-inch space in a compatible plug-in load center.
Can I use the 1-pole CL130 for a 240V appliance?
No. While the breaker has a voltage rating of 120/240VAC, it is a 1-pole breaker designed to supply 120V to a single circuit. A dedicated 240V appliance requires a 2-pole breaker.
What type of wire is approved for use with the CL130?
The breaker lugs are rated for both copper (Cu) and aluminum (Al) conductors. It accepts wire gauges from 14 AWG up to 4 AWG, providing flexibility for standard 30-amp circuit installations.
Does the CL130 include AFCI or GFCI protection?
No. The CL130 is a standard thermal-magnetic breaker that provides long-time and instantaneous trip functions for overload and short-circuit protection. It does not offer arc fault (AFCI) or ground fault (GFCI) protection.
