The HFD2100 is an F-frame breaker designed for use in Eaton Series C panelboards, such as the PRL3A and PRL4, as well as compatible motor control centers and switchboards.
Can the Eaton HFD2100 replace older Westinghouse or Cutler-Hammer HFD2100 breakers?
Yes. Eaton acquired the distribution equipment lines from both Westinghouse and Cutler-Hammer. The current Eaton HFD2100 is physically and electrically interchangeable with legacy Westinghouse and Cutler-Hammer breakers sharing the same catalog number.
What is the difference between the FD2100, HFD2100, and FDC2100?
The difference is their interrupting capacity at 480VAC. The standard FD2100 is rated at 35kAIC, the high-interrupting HFD2100 is rated at 65kAIC, and the current-limiting FDC2100 is rated at 100kAIC. They share the same physical F-frame footprint.
Is the HFD2100 rated for use in DC applications?
Yes, this thermal-magnetic breaker is rated for up to 250VDC with an interrupting capacity of 22kAIC, making it suitable for certain solar, battery, or industrial DC control circuits.
Can the HFD2100 be reverse fed?
Yes. Standard thermal-magnetic Series C F-frame breakers like the HFD2100 are suitable for reverse feed applications.
Can I field-install internal accessories like a shunt trip or auxiliary switch in the HFD2100?
No. Eaton Series C F-frame breakers are factory sealed. Field installation of internal accessories is not permitted and will void the UL listing. Any internal accessories must be factory installed.
What wire sizes do the standard lugs on the HFD2100 accept?
The standard lugs accept 14 AWG to 1/0 AWG copper or aluminum wire. Always refer to the breaker nameplate for specific torque requirements based on the exact wire size and material used.
Does the HFD2100 provide ground fault or arc fault protection?
No. The HFD2100 is a standard thermal-magnetic breaker that provides only overload and short-circuit protection. It does not include GFCI or AFCI circuitry.

Expedited Shipments
