Part of Eaton's FAZ-NA series, this 0.5A single-pole miniature circuit breaker provides reliable overcurrent protection for highly inductive loads. It is specifically designed for commercial and industrial applications, including motor control and marine environments. The breaker installs onto standard 35mm DIN rail systems and serves as a direct replacement for the legacy WMZT1DX0. Rated at 10 kAIC, it features a D-curve trip profile to prevent nuisance tripping during high inrush startups.
What does the D curve signify on the FAZ-D0.5/1-NA-SP miniature circuit breaker?
The D curve characteristic indicates a magnetic trip point between 10 and 20 times the rated current. This makes it ideal for highly inductive loads where high inrush currents are expected, such as motors, transformers, and power supplies, preventing nuisance tripping.
Is the Eaton FAZ-D0.5/1-NA-SP rated for branch circuit protection?
Yes, the FAZ-NA series is UL 489 listed, meaning it is fully rated for branch circuit protection in North America, unlike UL 1077 supplementary protectors.
What size DIN rail is required for mounting the FAZ-D0.5/1-NA-SP?
This miniature circuit breaker mounts directly onto a standard 35mm DIN rail. It is commonly installed in industrial control panels and DIN rail enclosures.
Is the Eaton FAZ-D0.5/1-NA-SP a current-limiting circuit breaker?
Yes, it features a current-limiting design that interrupts fault currents within one half cycle. This reduces peak let-through energy, providing superior protection against circuit damage.
What does the SP stand for in the FAZ-D0.5/1-NA-SP catalog number?
The SP indicates that the breaker is sold in a single package. The NA designates it as a North American UL 489 listed branch circuit breaker with standard screw terminals.
How does the interrupting rating differ between AC and DC applications for the FAZ-D0.5/1-NA-SP?
The breaker maintains a consistent 10kA interrupting capacity (10kAIC) across both its maximum AC rating of 277VAC and its maximum DC rating of 48VDC.
Does the FAZ-D0.5/1-NA-SP feature a trip-free mechanism?
Yes, it utilizes a trip-free design, meaning the circuit breaker will still trip under fault conditions even if the handle is physically held in the ON position.
Can accessories be added to the FAZ-D0.5/1-NA-SP?
Yes, the FAZ-NA series supports field-installable accessories, including auxiliary contacts and shunt trips, which can be retrofitted for advanced control and monitoring.
