Eaton / Cutler-Hammer QCGFT1020 GFCI Miniature Circuit Breaker

The Eaton QCGFT1020 is a Type QC cable-in/cable-out breaker designed for use in Eaton Quicklag enclosures, custom OEM panels, and specialized industrial equipment. It is a feed-thru style breaker and is not compatible with standard residential plug-on or bolt-on load centers.

This breaker provides Class A ground fault protection, meaning it is calibrated to trip when a ground fault exceeds 5mA. This level of protection is required for personnel safety in wet or hazardous applications such as bathrooms, kitchens, and outdoor receptacles.

As a Quicklag Type QC breaker, it features a cable-in/cable-out design. Instead of plugging directly onto a panel busbar, it typically front-mounts to a dedicated base plate, DIN rail adapter, or mounting clip, making it ideal for custom OEM enclosures.

The built-in box lug terminals are rated to accept 14 AWG to 4 AWG copper (Cu) or aluminum (Al) wire on both the line and load connections.

The QCGFT1020 features a white pigtail wire that must be connected directly to the main neutral bar in the panel. The neutral wire coming from your load circuit must then be terminated at the dedicated load neutral lug on the breaker itself.

The LI designation indicates that the thermal-magnetic trip unit provides Long-Time (L) protection against gradual circuit overloads and Instantaneous (I) protection against severe short circuits, operating alongside its dedicated ground fault sensing.

The breaker features a built-in test button on the front face, and modern iterations include an automatic self-testing feature to ensure the internal circuitry is functioning correctly. It is recommended to press the manual test button periodically to verify that it successfully trips the breaker for ongoing personnel protection.
