Product FAQs

5 answers
Which panelboards are compatible with the NEF435040 circuit breaker?

The NEF435040 is designed exclusively for use in legacy Federal Pacific NEF panelboards. It features a bolt-on connection to secure directly to the panel bus.

What wire sizes do the lugs on the NEF435040 accept?

The factory lugs on this breaker accommodate conductors ranging from 14 AWG to 2 AWG. Always verify the correct torque specifications during installation to ensure a secure and compliant connection.

How does the thermal-magnetic trip unit in the NEF435040 operate?

It utilizes a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit with Long-Time and Instantaneous (LI) functions. The thermal element provides delayed tripping for sustained overloads, while the magnetic element trips immediately in the event of a short circuit.

What frame family does the NEF435040 belong to?

This breaker is part of the Federal Pacific N-Frame series. It shares the same physical dimensions as other NEF breakers, ensuring a proper fit in compatible legacy enclosures.

Is the Federal Pacific NEF435040 still in active production?

Federal Pacific Electric is no longer in business, making the NEF435040 a legacy component. It is primarily sourced to maintain and service existing NEF panelboards without requiring a complete panel replacement.

    Great service & pricing

Superbreakers did a great job for us. We called and asked if the breakers were actually in their possession. Withing 30 minutes they called us back (which is rare these days), and we got our breakers the next morning.
