Product FAQs

7 answers
What panelboards are compatible with the Federal Pacific NEF437125 circuit breaker?

The NEF437125 is a bolt-on molded case circuit breaker designed specifically for legacy Federal Pacific NEF series panelboards and switchboards.

Is the Federal Pacific NEF437125 still being manufactured?

No, Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) is no longer in business, making original NEF series breakers obsolete. Replacements are sourced through specialty electrical suppliers that carry surplus inventory or exact-fit aftermarket alternatives.

How does the NEF437125 connect to the panel bus?

This breaker features a bolt-on connection, requiring it to be mechanically fastened directly to the panelboard busbars for a secure electrical connection.

What type of protection does the NEF437125 provide?

It utilizes a thermal-magnetic trip unit with long-time and instantaneous (LI) trip functions, delivering reliable overload and short-circuit protection for three-phase commercial electrical systems.

Are there safety concerns when servicing legacy Federal Pacific panels?

Yes, legacy FPE equipment has documented reliability issues. When replacing components like the NEF437125, ensure the panel is thoroughly inspected by a licensed electrician. Upgrading the entire panel to a modern, UL-listed system is often recommended to meet current National Electrical Code (NEC) standards.

Can the NEF437125 be installed in 240V or 208V systems?

Yes, while it carries a maximum voltage rating of 480VAC, it can safely be applied in lower voltage three-phase systems such as 240VAC or 208VAC networks.

What wire sizes are compatible with the NEF437125?

Wire gauge compatibility depends on the specific load-side lugs installed on the breaker. Always consult the manufacturer label on the breaker or lug to ensure the conductor size and material (copper or aluminum) are approved for the application.

    Great service & pricing

Superbreakers did a great job for us. We called and asked if the breakers were actually in their possession. Withing 30 minutes they called us back (which is rare these days), and we got our breakers the next morning.
