Description

Utilizing advanced microprocessor technology, this 600A electronic trip MCCB provides accurate LSI protection. The Spectra RMS series is engineered to handle non-linear loads in commercial facilities. As a unit-mount SG frame breaker, it fits perfectly into compatible GE panelboards and switchgear. Installers must source the required interchangeable rating plug and lug kits separately. Boasting a 100kAIC capacity at 480VAC, this current-limiting device offers exceptional fault defense.

Product FAQs

8 answers
Does the SGPA36AT0600 come ready to use right out of the box?

No. Because this is a frame-only unit, you must purchase and field-install a compatible Spectra RMS rating plug (such as the SRPG600A series) and the necessary load-side or line-side lug kits separately before operation.

Which lug kit is compatible with this 600A SG frame breaker?

The TCLK365 lug kit is the standard 3-pole terminal kit for this unit. It accepts either one 8 AWG to 600 kcmil conductor or two 2/0 AWG to 500 kcmil copper or aluminum conductors per phase.

How is the continuous amp rating set on this breaker?

The continuous rating is established by inserting a front-mounted interchangeable rating plug into the trip unit. Plugs like the SRPG600A400 or SRPG600A600 determine the maximum continuous current up to the 600A frame limit.

Can I add field-installable accessories like a shunt trip or auxiliary switch?

Yes. The Spectra RMS SG600 frame features internal accessory pouches located on the front of the unit. This design allows you to drop in internal accessories like shunt trips, undervoltage releases, or bell alarms without voiding the UL listing or removing the main breaker cover.

Is the ABB SGPA36AT0600 the exact same product as the GE version?

Yes. Following ABB's acquisition of GE Industrial Solutions, these Spectra RMS circuit breakers are manufactured to the exact same specifications. Depending on the manufacturing date, the label may read ABB, GE, or both, but the physical footprint and internal components remain identical.

Can I reverse feed the SGPA36AT0600 circuit breaker?

Yes, this solid-state electronic trip breaker is rated for reverse feed applications. You can connect the line power to either the top or bottom terminals without compromising the LSI protection functions.

How do you safely test the electronic trip unit on this breaker?

The electronic trip unit can be verified in the field without primary current injection by using the GE Spectra RMS Trip Tester (part number SPTK1) combined with a test rating plug (SRPT1) while the breaker is properly de-energized and isolated.

Does the trip unit measure standard RMS or peak current?

The Spectra RMS trip system uses digital sampling to determine the true RMS (Root Mean Square) value of both sinusoidal and non-sinusoidal currents. This makes it highly accurate for modern commercial facilities with heavy non-linear or harmonic loads.
