Product FAQs
7 answers
What panelboards are compatible with the JL2B150 breaker?
This breaker is designed for use in Siemens P4 and P5 panelboards, Siemens switchboards, and legacy ITE FC or S-Series panelboards.
What does the LI trip function indicate on this J-frame breaker?
The LI designation means the breaker provides Long-Time and Instantaneous protection. It uses a thermal-magnetic mechanism where the thermal overload is fixed and the instantaneous magnetic short-circuit trip is adjustable.
Is the trip unit on the JL2B150 permanent or interchangeable?
This breaker features an interchangeable trip unit. This allows panel builders to swap the trip unit to a different amperage rating in the future without replacing the entire breaker frame.
What type of wire can be used with the standard lugs on this breaker?
The standard terminals accept both copper and aluminum conductors ranging from 4 AWG to 350 kcmil. Ensure proper torque specifications are followed during installation.
How does a bolt-on breaker like the JL2B150 connect to the bus bar?
Bolt-on breakers secure directly to the panelboard bus bars using screws or bolts. This provides a highly secure, vibration-resistant connection commonly required in commercial and industrial applications.
Does the JL2B150 include ground fault equipment protection?
No. This is a standard thermal-magnetic molded case circuit breaker. It provides standard overload and short-circuit protection but does not include integrated ground fault or arc fault sensing.
Can this 2-pole breaker be installed in a 3-phase panelboard?
Yes. A 2-pole breaker can be mounted in a 3-phase panelboard to supply a single-phase load by connecting to two of the three available phases.
