Can I use this 3-pole breaker in a single-phase I-Line panelboard?
Yes. While it is a 3-pole breaker, it can be installed in a single-phase I-Line panelboard. In typical single-phase applications, the A and C phases are utilized. Always verify your phase connections before installation.
What does the U41A designation mean on this breaker?
The U41A suffix indicates the breaker is equipped with a Micrologic 3.0A (Ammeter) electronic trip unit. This provides adjustable Long-time and Instantaneous (LI) trip functions along with integrated current metering.
Is the PJA36080U41A rated for 100 percent continuous current?
No, this standard model is rated for 80 percent continuous current. For a 100 percent rated version, a different catalog number with a C suffix (PJA36080CU41A) would be required.
What wire sizes are accepted by the lugs on this 800A breaker?
The standard AL800M23K mechanical load lugs accept three 3/0 AWG to 500 kcmil aluminum or copper conductors per phase. The required tightening torque for these lugs is 442.5 lb-in (50 N.m).
Does this breaker require a separate mounting hardware kit for I-Line panels?
No. The PJA36080U41A features an integral I-Line plug-on connection for the line side, allowing it to mount directly onto the I-Line panelboard bus without additional mounting hardware. The load side uses mechanical lugs.
Can I use a standard filler plate if I remove this breaker from an I-Line panel?
If removing a P-frame breaker, you must use the appropriate wide-side filler plates (like the HNM4BL or HLW1BL) to cover the empty bus space. However, do not use standard filler plates over the Micrologic trip unit itself while the breaker is installed, as it will obstruct the trip unit face.
Can I install a padlock on the PJA36080U41A?
Yes, the breaker handle can be padlocked in the OFF position using a compatible padlock attachment, such as the Square D S32631 or MPRPAF padlock accessory.

Expedited Shipments

The whole process with Technitrol was Awesome. Jim the owner was extremely helpful he caught some problems with one of the breakers that I didn't notice very helpful. James and Collin were great also. The whole company really step up helping me determine what path I should take to replace/refurbish breakers that went through a flood. I never experienced a flood like this they were an awesome resource and help to me and my employer the City of Wauwatosa
