Part of the BL series, this 50A molded case circuit breaker delivers robust thermal-magnetic protection for commercial and industrial environments. The unit features a bolt-on mounting configuration, ensuring a secure connection within Siemens P1, P2, P3, P4, and P5 panelboards. Rated for 10kAIC at 120/240VAC, it includes Insta-Wire connectors with backed-out screws to accelerate installation. This HACR-rated component is ideal for heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment circuits.
Can the Siemens B250 replace legacy ITE or Gould circuit breakers?
Yes. Because Siemens acquired ITE, the Siemens B250 is the direct, manufacturer-approved replacement for older ITE B250 and Gould B250 circuit breakers. It shares the identical BL series frame profile and bolt-on mounting, ensuring a proper fit in existing legacy panels.
Which panelboards are compatible with the Siemens B250?
This breaker is specifically designed for Siemens P1, P2, P3, P4, and P5 commercial panelboards. As a bolt-on unit, it fastens securely directly to the busbar and cannot be installed in standard residential plug-on load centers.
Is the Siemens B250 HACR rated for motor loads?
Yes, this breaker carries a HACR rating, making it compliant for use with heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment. It is engineered to safely handle the inrush currents and temporary surges associated with starting HVAC compressors and large fan motors.
What conductor sizes are supported by the B250 load lugs?
The integrated load lugs accommodate 8 to 6 AWG copper (Cu) wire or 8 to 4 AWG aluminum (Al) wire. Installers must strictly adhere to the torque specifications printed directly on the breaker label to ensure a secure, low-resistance connection.
Does the Siemens B250 provide common trip functionality?
Yes, this 2-pole breaker features an internal common trip mechanism. If a fault or overload is detected on either pole, both poles will trip simultaneously to completely disconnect the 240V circuit and protect downstream equipment from single-phasing.
What does the LI trip function on the B250 breaker indicate?
The LI designation signifies that this thermal-magnetic breaker provides both Long-Time and Instantaneous overcurrent protection. The thermal element safely delays tripping for harmless temporary surges but prevents damage from sustained overloads, while the magnetic element clears severe short circuits immediately.
