Built to handle demanding electrical environments, the Siemens B270HH is a high-interrupting 70-amp, two-pole circuit breaker. It operates at 120/240VAC and is designed for robust commercial and industrial power distribution systems. Featuring a sturdy bolt-on connection, this breaker ensures maximum stability and continuous power flow. It is specifically engineered to mount into Siemens P1 panelboards. The standout feature is its exceptional 65kAIC rating for superior short-circuit defense.
What is the difference between the Siemens B270, B270H, and B270HH?
These breakers share the same physical B-frame footprint and bolt-on mounting, but they have different short-circuit interrupting ratings. The standard B270 is rated at 10kAIC, the B270H is rated at 22kAIC, and the B270HH provides the highest rating at 65kAIC at 120/240VAC.
Which panelboards are compatible with the B270HH?
This bolt-on miniature circuit breaker is designed specifically for use in Siemens P1 panelboards. It secures directly to the panel bus using a bolted connection for robust commercial and industrial power distribution.
Does the B270HH come with load-side lugs?
Yes, the breaker includes load-side lugs that accept 4 to 1/0 AWG copper or 2 to 1/0 AWG aluminum conductors. The line side bolts directly to the panel bus.
Can the B270HH be used in a reverse feed application?
Yes, standard thermal-magnetic Siemens Type BL, BLH, and HBL breakers can be back-fed. When used as a back-fed main in a Siemens P1 panelboard, NEC regulations require a dedicated hold-down kit, such as the Siemens MBKBFA, to secure the breaker to the bus.
Is the B270HH suitable for heating and cooling equipment?
Yes, this breaker is HACR rated. It is approved for use with heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment that requires a 70A overcurrent protection device.
Will this breaker work on a 277/480V system?
No, the B270HH is strictly rated for 120/240VAC maximum. For 277V or 480Y/277V systems, you must use a breaker rated for those voltages, such as the Siemens BQD series.
Can this breaker replace older ITE brand breakers?
Yes. Siemens acquired ITE, and current Siemens B-frame breakers are direct replacements for legacy ITE breakers sharing the same bolt-on configuration and catalog numbers.
