Product FAQs
8 answers
What types of panels or enclosures are compatible with the CED63B050?
This breaker is designed for use in Siemens Sentron panelboards, switchboards, and compatible industrial enclosures. It is not intended for standard residential load centers.
What wire sizes and materials are supported by the terminals on this breaker?
The factory-installed lugs accept 10 AWG to 1/0 AWG wire. Both copper (Cu) and aluminum (Al) conductors are supported.
Can the CED63B050 be used in direct current (DC) systems?
Yes, this breaker is rated for DC applications. It provides a 50kA interrupting rating at 250VDC and a 30kA interrupting rating at 500VDC.
What type of protection is provided by the LI trip function?
The LI designation means the breaker uses a thermal-magnetic trip unit providing fixed Long-Time (thermal) overload protection and fixed Instantaneous (magnetic) short-circuit protection.
How is the CED63B050 installed into a panel?
This is a unit mount, bolt-on circuit breaker. It requires bolted connections to the panel bus or mounting plate rather than a plug-in or snap-on installation.
Which frame family does the CED63B050 belong to?
It is part of the Siemens Sentron ED frame group, specifically utilizing the CED frame type. This is useful to know when sourcing compatible handle ties, padlocking devices, or shunt trips.
Is this breaker suitable for high fault current applications?
Yes, it features a current-limiting design with a very high interrupting capacity of 200kA at both 240VAC and 480VAC, making it suitable for commercial and industrial systems with substantial available fault current.
Are the thermal and magnetic trip settings adjustable on this model?
No, both the thermal (overload) and magnetic (short-circuit) trip points are fixed from the factory and cannot be adjusted in the field.
