The LE36250LI is a 3-pole, 250A molded case circuit breaker from Square D's legacy L-Frame series. Built for commercial and industrial applications, it provides reliable overcurrent protection. Designed with an I-Line mounting style, this breaker installs into Square D I-Line panelboards. As a legacy component, it is replaced by the LLA36250U31X (requires HNM1BL filler). It features a Micrologic trip unit with adjustable LI settings, true RMS sensing, and a 65 kAIC rating at 480VAC.

Product FAQs
7 answers
Which panelboards accept the Square D LE36250LI circuit breaker?
This breaker is built specifically for Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards. It utilizes the proprietary I-Line plug-on connection, which ratchets directly onto the bus stack for a secure, maintenance-free line connection.
What protection functions are included in the LE36250LI electronic trip unit?
The LI designation means this Micrologic trip unit provides adjustable Long-Time (L) and Instantaneous (I) trip functions. This allows panel builders to fine-tune the overcurrent and short-circuit response curves to coordinate with other devices in the distribution system.
What is the modern replacement for the legacy LE36250LI breaker?
The LE frame is a legacy product. The current replacement is the Square D PowerPact L-Frame series, specifically models like the LLA36250U31X. When retrofitting a PowerPact L-Frame into an older I-Line panel, you may need a blank filler plate (such as the HNM1BL) to cover the difference in physical dimensions.
What are the acceptable wire sizes for the LE36250LI terminals?
The factory-installed lugs accommodate a wide range of conductors, accepting 2 AWG to 500 kcmil aluminum wire or 2 AWG to 600 kcmil copper wire. Always torque the lugs to the manufacturer specifications printed on the breaker faceplate.
Can I install the LE36250LI in a reverse-fed application?
No. Breakers with electronic trip units are typically marked with specific line and load terminals and are not suitable for reverse feeding. Additionally, the I-Line plug-on design inherently dictates the line side connection at the bus.
Does the LE36250LI require a separate mounting bracket for installation?
No. Because it features an I-Line style plug-in connection, the breaker mounts directly to the interior bus assembly of an I-Line panelboard. The mounting jaws are built into the breaker, eliminating the need for separate mounting hardware or cable connections on the line side.
Does the LE36250LI include ground fault protection?
No. The LI trip unit only provides Long-Time and Instantaneous protection. If your application requires equipment ground fault protection, you will need a breaker with an LSIG or LIG trip unit instead.
