Engineered for commercial applications, the Siemens LGG3B090L 3-pole, 90A molded case circuit breaker belongs to the Sentron family. It provides reliable long-time and instantaneous (LI) protection with an adjustable magnetic trip mechanism. This unit mount MCCB installs into Siemens enclosures, switchboards, and industrial control panels. It features a robust 100kA interrupting rating at 240VAC. Note that this legacy GB/GG frame model is replaced by the 3VA5190-6EC31-0AA0.
Is the Siemens LGG3B090L still in active production?
The LGG3B090L is a legacy GB/GG frame molded case circuit breaker. Siemens has replaced this model with the 3VA5190-6EC31-0AA0 from the newer 3VA5 series.
What types of enclosures and panels accept the LGG3B090L breaker?
This unit mount breaker is designed for installation in Siemens enclosures, industrial control panels, and switchboards. It can also be independently mounted on a standard 35mm DIN rail without requiring additional adapter plates.
How is the LGG3B090L secured when using the DIN rail mounting option?
The GG frame features an integral DIN rail mounting channel on the back of the breaker. It snaps directly onto a standard 35mm DIN rail, allowing for quick installation in control panels without the need for mounting screws or base adapters.
What is the difference between the GG and GB frame breakers?
Both frames share the same internal design and compact footprint. However, the GG frame is designed for global applications and can be independently mounted on a DIN rail or base mounted, while the GB frame is specifically configured for panelboard mounting applications.
How does the adjustable magnetic trip function work on this breaker?
The LGG3B090L features a thermal-magnetic trip unit with a fixed thermal element for overload protection and an adjustable magnetic element for short-circuit protection. The magnetic pickup can be adjusted using the dial on the front of the trip unit to coordinate with downstream devices or handle specific inrush currents.
What does the LI trip function code indicate on this breaker?
The LI designation means the trip unit provides Long-Time (L) protection for thermal overloads and Instantaneous (I) protection for short circuits. It does not include Short-Time or Ground Fault protection functions.
Does the LGG3B090L feature a trip-free mechanism?
Yes, the GG frame utilizes an overcenter toggle mechanism that is trip-free. If a short-circuit or overload condition occurs, the contacts are forced apart and the breaker will trip even if the operating handle is physically held in the ON position.
