Manufactured for residential applications, this tandem breaker provides two independent 30A circuits within a standard one-inch footprint. It expands capacity in older installations without requiring a subpanel. The plug-on design mounts into compatible Murray and Siemens load centers accepting MP-T configurations. Equipped with Insta-Wire connectors for faster installation, it features a thermal-magnetic trip mechanism and carries an HACR rating for HVAC equipment.
Which load centers are compatible with the Siemens MP3030 tandem breaker?
The MP3030 is designed for use in Murray and Siemens load centers that accept MP-frame plug-in breakers. Always verify your specific panel label to ensure it accepts tandem breakers in the desired slot.
Can I install this tandem breaker in any slot within my panel?
No. Tandem breakers like the MP3030 can only be installed in panel slots specifically listed on the load center's wiring diagram as accepting tandem or twin breakers. Installing them in non-listed slots can overload the bus bar.
Is the Siemens MP3030 a direct replacement for the Murray MP3030?
Yes. Siemens acquired Murray, and the Siemens MP3030 serves as the exact, manufacturer-approved replacement for the legacy Murray MP3030 tandem breaker.
Can I use the MP3030 in a Square D or Eaton panel?
No. The Siemens MP3030 is not UL-listed or classified for use in Square D, Eaton, GE, or other competitor panels. It should only be installed in compatible Siemens or Murray load centers.
Is the MP3030 a CTL or Non-CTL tandem breaker?
The MP3030 is a CTL (Circuit Total Limiting) breaker. It features a rejection clip and will only seat properly in load center slots specifically designed and notched to accept CTL tandem breakers.
Does the MP3030 provide a 240V circuit?
No. Although it is rated for 120/240VAC systems, the MP3030 is a tandem breaker that provides two independent 120V, 30-amp single-pole circuits. It is not a 2-pole breaker and does not have a common trip mechanism for 240V loads.
What happens if I install the MP3030 in a non-tandem slot?
Installing a tandem breaker in a slot not designed for it violates UL listing and electrical codes. It can cause the bus bar to overheat, potentially leading to equipment damage or a fire hazard. The CTL rejection clip on the MP3030 is designed to prevent this improper installation.
