Designed to maintain older electrical infrastructure, the Siemens P230 is a 2-pole, 30A Pushmatic circuit breaker. It provides reliable overcurrent and short-circuit protection for both residential and commercial environments. The bolt-on configuration mounts into ITE, Siemens, Gould, and Bulldog Pushmatic load centers. It acts as an exact substitute for legacy P230 models, making it an essential component for facility managers servicing vintage panelboards.
Which load centers are compatible with the Siemens P230 circuit breaker?
The P230 is designed exclusively for Pushmatic load centers. Depending on the age of the installation, these panels may be branded as ITE, Bulldog, Gould, or Siemens. It will not fit in standard plug-on or modern bolt-on panelboards.
How is the P230 breaker installed in a panel?
This breaker utilizes a bolt-on connection. It fastens directly to the bus bar of a Pushmatic load center using screws, which provides a secure and vibration-resistant electrical connection.
How does the switching mechanism on a Pushmatic breaker operate?
Pushmatic breakers do not use a standard toggle switch. Instead, they feature a push-button mechanism. You press the button to engage the contacts and turn the circuit on, and press it again to disconnect power or reset a tripped breaker.
What are the common cross-reference part numbers for the Siemens P230?
Because the Pushmatic line has changed ownership over the decades, this 30-amp, 2-pole breaker can also be identified as ITE P230, Bulldog P230, or Gould P230. The aftermarket replacement manufactured by Connecticut Electric is part number UBIP230.
What applications are typical for a 30A, 240V Pushmatic breaker?
A 30-amp double-pole breaker is frequently installed to protect 240V residential and light commercial loads. Common applications include electric water heaters, clothes dryers, and small air conditioning condensers. Always verify the manufacturer nameplate on the equipment to ensure proper sizing.
How can I visually verify if the P230 has tripped?
Pushmatic breakers include a mechanical flag indicator. When a thermal-magnetic trip occurs, the push-button releases outward and a label reading OFF or TRIPPED becomes visible in the indicator window.

Review summary

I needed some filler plates for an older breaker panel. Not available at any retail places I could find, thankfully Superbreakers had them. A couple minor issues: they didn't include the size specifications (L x W x D) online, which would have helped confirm they were the right fit; and they included an unrelated picture (along with the right one).
But the online order processing was easy-to-use and had all the info needed (especially the shipping options/costs, and the return policy). They also stuck to their word about getting it out in 24 hours. It arrived via UPS Ground in a respectful 5 days. They of course fit the panel and all is well.
Overall, very pleased with the company.

The part was correct,, but
The part was correct,, but I was shocked when the cheapest (ground) shipping was almost as much as the part that only weighed 8 ounces. The part was $14.03 and the shipping was almost $13.00.

Happy with my Purchase
This is the 4th time I have used SuperBreakers and have been happy with my purchase every time. I have an old style style system in my house and the company I was using told me the old style breakers were impossible to find and charged me $80 each. Next time I needed one I found SuperBreakers had them for $15 each. I am no longer using that electrical company.
