Built to maximize capacity in residential applications, this triplex breaker supplies two 20A single-pole circuits and one 25A double-pole circuit. The space-saving configuration allows three independent circuits to occupy just two standard panel spaces. Mounting into Siemens EQ, PL, ES, and Ultimate load centers, the plug-on component replaces older MP22025CT units. It features a 10kAIC rating, CTL rejection, and a common trip mechanism for the center 25A double-pole section.
This triplex breaker requires two standard 1-inch spaces in your load center. It consolidates two 1-pole 20A circuits and one 2-pole 25A circuit into a compact footprint, saving two panel spaces compared to using standard full-size breakers.
Does the Q22025CT feature a common trip mechanism?
Yes, the 2-pole 25A section features a common trip, indicated by the CT in the part number. If one leg of the 240V circuit experiences an overload or short circuit, both poles will trip simultaneously to safely disconnect the load. The two 1-pole 20A circuits operate and trip independently.
Can I install this QT series breaker in any Siemens load center?
The Q22025CT is designed for Siemens EQ, PL, ES, and Ultimate series panels that are rated to accept tandem or quad breakers. Because it is a Circuit Total Limiting (CTL) breaker, it must be installed in designated notched busbar slots. Always check your panel wiring diagram to confirm tandem placement.
Is the Q22025CT backward compatible with older ITE or Murray panels?
Yes, Siemens QT series breakers are UL-listed for use in many legacy ITE, Gould, and Murray load centers that accept tandem or quad breakers. Siemens acquired these brands and maintains backward compatibility, but you must verify your specific panel label for QT breaker acceptance.
What is the difference between a triplex and a quadplex breaker?
While both fit into two 1-inch panel spaces, a triplex breaker like the Q22025CT provides two 1-pole circuits and one 2-pole circuit. A quadplex breaker provides two separate 2-pole circuits.
Is the Q22025CT suitable for HVAC applications?
Yes, this breaker is HACR rated, making it suitable for use with heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment that requires this specific UL listing for overcurrent protection.
