The S01 suffix designates a factory-installed 120/240VAC shunt trip. This internal accessory allows the breaker to be tripped remotely via an external control signal, which is commonly used for emergency stop circuits or automated load shedding.
Is the QJ23B10000S01 breaker still in active production?
Siemens has phased out the QJ frame in favor of the newer QR frame. The direct modern equivalent for this unit is the QR23B100, though you will also need the S01QR2 accessory to replicate the factory-installed shunt trip.
Can the trip settings on the QJ23B10000S01 be adjusted in the field?
No. This breaker features fixed thermal and fixed magnetic trip elements. The long-time and instantaneous trip functions are factory calibrated and cannot be modified by the installer.
Is the 10kAIC rating sufficient for commercial switchboards?
A 10kAIC rating at 240VAC is suitable for light commercial applications where the available fault current is verified to be 10,000 amps or less. For facilities with higher available fault currents, a breaker with a higher interrupting capacity will be required.

Bolt-on breakers require direct physical connection to the busbars. The panelboard or switchboard must be completely de-energized, locked out, and tagged out before installation. Verify zero voltage with a properly rated multimeter before unbolting the existing unit or installing the replacement.
