Designed to safeguard residential electronics, the Siemens QSA1515SPD combines two 15A circuits with whole-house surge protection, saving valuable panel slots. This plug-on breaker fits into Siemens EQ, PL, and ES series load centers. It replaces legacy QSA1515 and QSA1515TVSS models. With a 10 kAIC rating and 40kA surge capacity, it handles overcurrents and spikes. LED indicators and a trip-to-notify mechanism alert users if protection is lost.

Product FAQs
7 answers
Does the QSA1515SPD replace any older Siemens surge breakers?
Yes, the QSA1515SPD replaces the legacy Siemens QSA1515 and QSA1515TVSS surge protection breaker models.
How many panel spaces does the QSA1515SPD require?
This device requires two standard 1-inch panel spaces. Because it includes two built-in 15-amp single-pole circuit breakers, it provides whole-panel surge suppression without sacrificing usable branch circuit capacity.
Where should the QSA1515SPD be installed in the load center?
For optimal whole-panel surge protection, install the SPD as close to the main breaker or main lugs as possible. This keeps the surge path short and maximizes the effectiveness of the metal oxide varistors (MOVs).
How does the QSA1515SPD indicate a loss of surge protection?
The device features two green LED indicators that remain illuminated while surge protection is active. If the surge protection capacity is depleted, the LEDs will turn off and one or both of the built-in circuit breakers will trip to notify you that the unit requires replacement.
What is the maximum surge current capacity of the QSA1515SPD?
The SPD module has a maximum impulse rating of 40kA. It features a transient energy rating of 360 Joules for line-to-neutral and 720 Joules for line-to-line.
What is the initial clamping voltage for this surge protective device?
The QSA1515SPD has an initial clamping level of 240 volts and utilizes Siemens-built 150V AC, 40mm metal oxide varistors (MOVs) to suppress voltage spikes.
Does the QSA1515SPD only protect the two circuits wired directly to it?
No. Once installed on the busbar, the SPD module provides whole-house surge protection for the entire panel and all connected branch circuits, while simultaneously providing standard thermal-magnetic protection for its two dedicated 15-amp circuits.
