Part of the Sentron family, this 1200A ND-frame molded case circuit breaker delivers advanced microprocessor-based protection for commercial and industrial distribution systems. It installs into Siemens Type P4 and P5 panelboards, as well as SB-series switchboards using a standard unit mount configuration. The integrated Sensitrip IV electronic trip unit provides highly configurable long-time, short-time, and instantaneous (LSI) settings to ensure precise coordination across complex networks.
What lug kits are compatible with the Siemens SND6A120LSI circuit breaker?
The SND6A120LSI accepts several ND-frame lug kits depending on your wire size and material requirements. Common options include the 3TA2N8750 aluminum lug kit for 500 to 750 kcmil wire and the TC2K500 copper lug kit for 1 AWG to 500 kcmil wire.
Which Siemens panelboards and switchboards can accommodate the SND6A120LSI?
This ND-frame breaker is designed for use in Siemens Sentron Type P4 and P5 panelboards, as well as SB1, SB2, and SB3 series switchboards.
What does the A in the SND6A120LSI catalog number signify?
The A indicates that this breaker is equipped with an Advanced Sensitrip IV electronic trip unit. This advanced unit includes Zone Selective Interlocking (ZSI) capabilities and a Maintenance Mode (MM) setting to help reduce arc-flash energy while personnel are working within the arc-flash boundary.
What trip functions can be adjusted on the SND6A120LSI?
This breaker features an LSI electronic trip unit, allowing you to configure the Long-Time continuous current setting, Short-Time pickup and delay, and Instantaneous pickup. This provides precise coordination across complex electrical distribution networks.
How is the SND6A120LSI mounted within an enclosure?
The SND6A120LSI is a unit-mount, bolt-on circuit breaker. It is designed to be bolted directly to the bus or mounting pan in compatible individual enclosures, panelboards, or switchboards using standard ND-frame mounting hardware.
How does the SND6A120LSI differ from standard ND6 breakers?
While both share the same physical ND-frame dimensions and mounting footprint, the SND6A120LSI utilizes a solid-state Sensitrip IV electronic trip unit rather than a thermal-magnetic trip. This provides advanced adjustability and communication features not found on standard ND6 models.
How does the Zone Selective Interlocking (ZSI) feature work on the SND6A120LSI?
ZSI allows multiple compatible circuit breakers to communicate with each other. When a short circuit or ground fault occurs, the breaker closest to the fault clears it with a minimum time delay, limiting stress on the distribution system without sacrificing coordination.
