Built for demanding industrial environments, this 35A thermal-magnetic breaker offers precise long-time and instantaneous trip responses. The unit integrates smoothly into Square D I-Line panelboards, acting as an exact cross-reference for older FH36035 models. With its J-interrupting tier delivering 65kA at 480V, this PowerPacT B-Frame component includes visual trip indicators and HACR certification to support heavy-duty HVAC and commercial power distribution networks.
Is the PowerPacT BJA36035 a suitable replacement for older Square D breakers?
Yes. The PowerPacT B-frame series is the direct replacement for the obsolete Square D FA and FH series I-Line molded case circuit breakers. It maintains the exact same mounting footprint for simple retrofitting in existing I-Line enclosures.
What does the J in the BJA36035 catalog number indicate?
The J indicates the breaker's interrupting capacity tier within the PowerPacT line. A J-rated breaker provides high-level fault protection, safely clearing up to 100kA at 240VAC or 65kA at 480VAC without sustaining internal damage.
Can the BJA36035 be installed in a standard Square D QO or Homeline load center?
No. This unit features a specialized plug-on jaw connection exclusively for Square D I-Line industrial panelboards and switchboards. It will not fit in standard unit-mount enclosures, QO, or Homeline residential load centers.
Are the thermal and magnetic trip settings adjustable on the BJA36035?
No, this specific model features a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit. The Long-Time overload protection and Instantaneous short circuit protection elements are factory-calibrated and cannot be adjusted in the field.
What are the acceptable wire sizes and torque specifications for the load lugs?
The mechanical load lugs accept 14 to 2/0 AWG aluminum or copper conductors. When terminating, torque 14 to 10 AWG wire to 31.9 to 38.9 lb-in, and 8 to 2/0 AWG wire to 44.3 to 54.9 lb-in to ensure a secure connection.
How does the internal contact design of the BJA36035 improve system protection?
This PowerPacT breaker utilizes dual-break rotating contacts. During a short circuit fault, this mechanism physically opens the circuit faster to drastically reduce peak let-through current, which minimizes potential stress and damage to downstream electrical equipment.
