8 answersIs the Square D FA34025 circuit breaker still manufactured?
The FA34025 is a legacy F-Frame circuit breaker that is no longer in active production by Schneider Electric. Its direct modern replacement is the PowerPact B-Frame series, which features the exact same dimensions and I-Line connection for a seamless retrofit.
Does the FA34025 require a separate hardware kit to mount in an I-Line panelboard?
No. Square D I-Line circuit breakers use an integrated plug-in design that connects directly to the panelboard bus stack. They do not require the separate link kits or finger kits needed by many other panelboard systems.
Can this I-Line circuit breaker be converted to a unit-mount configuration?
No. The line-side plug-on jaws are factory-installed and cannot be removed or retrofitted in the field to accept wire. If you require a unit-mount configuration with lugs on both ends, you must select a different circuit breaker, such as the FAL34025.
Can the FA34025 circuit breaker be reverse fed?
No. Because this is an I-Line breaker, incoming power must be supplied through the panelboard busbar into the plug-on jaws. It cannot safely accept incoming line power through the load-side lugs.
How is the FA34025 physically secured inside the panel enclosure?
After the line-side jaws are firmly pressed onto the central bus stack, the load end of the breaker is secured to the panelboard backpan using a mounting screw. This prevents the breaker from vibrating loose or shifting during a fault.
Will a newer PowerPact B-Frame breaker fit in place of this FA34025?
Yes. Square D designed the newer PowerPact B-Frame I-Line breakers to be backward compatible. They will fit directly into older panelboards in the exact same footprint without needing busbar modifications.
What does the LI designation mean for the trip unit?
The LI trip function indicates that the breaker provides Long-Time overload protection via a thermal bimetallic strip, and Instantaneous short-circuit protection using a magnetic mechanism. On the FA34025, both of these trip points are fixed at the factory.
What safety procedures are required when plugging this breaker onto the busbar?
Always verify the panelboard is completely de-energized and ensure the circuit breaker handle is in the OFF position before pushing the jaws onto the live bus stack. Installation must only be performed by licensed electrical personnel.

The Square D FA32100 circuit breaker (refurbished) was as good as a new breaker, without exception. There was no wear and tear or any marks at all. It was basically new. It is an excellent choice and a great product without having to pay the cost of a new breaker.
