Product FAQs
7 answers
What enclosures or panels is the FHP36070 compatible with?
This unit mount breaker is designed for use in Square D motor control centers and switchboards. It bolts directly to the mounting surface rather than plugging into a busbar.
Can this breaker be used in DC applications?
Yes, the FHP36070 is rated for up to 250VDC with a 10kA interrupting capacity. It is suitable for specific DC control circuits and battery systems requiring a 70A thermal magnetic trip.
Does this breaker provide adjustable trip settings?
No, the FHP36070 features fixed thermal and fixed magnetic trip elements. If your application requires adjustable long-time or instantaneous pickup settings, you will need a breaker with an electronic trip unit like a Micrologic module.
What does the FHP designation indicate for this breaker?
The FHP prefix indicates a Square D F-frame molded case circuit breaker with a high interrupting rating, delivering up to 65kA at 240VAC. Standard interrupting F-frames typically use the FAL prefix.
Is the FHP36070 a direct replacement for older F-frame breakers?
Yes, the FHP36070 can replace older Square D F-frame unit mount breakers with matching specifications. Verify the interrupting rating and mounting style match your existing equipment before installation.
How is the FHP36070 mounted in a switchboard?
It utilizes a unit mount, bolt-on configuration. This requires securing the breaker directly to the enclosure or mounting pan with screws, and wiring the line and load sides to the respective terminals.
Are the factory lugs on the FHP36070 rated for both copper and aluminum wire?
Yes, the included lugs are dual-rated for both copper (Cu) and aluminum (Al) conductors. Always apply an approved oxide inhibitor when terminating aluminum wire and torque to the manufacturer specifications.
