This is a unit-mount circuit breaker. It installs directly to a backpan or enclosure using screws and the included mechanical lugs, rather than plugging onto a busbar.
What is the difference between the HDL26040 and the HGL26040?
Both are 40A, 2-pole PowerPacT H-frame breakers, but they have different interrupting ratings. The HDL26040 is rated for 25kA at 240V and 18kA at 480V, while the HGL26040 offers a higher interrupting capacity of 65kA at 240V and 35kA at 480V.
Can I install the HDL26040 in a Square D I-Line panelboard?
No, the HDL26040 is a unit-mount breaker and does not have the required plug-on jaws for I-Line panels. For an I-Line equivalent, you will need an HDA-series breaker, such as the HDA26040.
What size wire do the standard lugs on this breaker accept?
The factory-installed AL150HD mechanical lugs accept 14 AWG to 3/0 AWG aluminum or copper wire.
Is the HDL26040 suitable for reverse feeding?
Yes, standard unit-mount PowerPacT H-frame circuit breakers have sealed thermal-magnetic trip units and are suitable for reverse-feed applications.
Can I add field-installable accessories to this breaker?
Yes, PowerPacT H-frame breakers support internal field-installable accessories, including shunt trips, undervoltage releases (UVR), and auxiliary switches, which mount behind the front cover.
Does this breaker provide GFCI or equipment protection (EPD)?
No, the HDL26040 is a standard thermal-magnetic breaker providing long-time and instantaneous (LI) overcurrent and short-circuit protection only. It does not include ground fault protection.
Can this breaker replace older Square D F-frame breakers?
Yes, PowerPacT H-frame breakers like the HDL26040 are the modern replacements for legacy F-frame breakers such as the FAL26040 or FHL26040. Retrofit mounting hardware may be required depending on your specific enclosure.

Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping
We strive to ship out your items the same day the order is placed. In rare circumstances SuperBreakers may reserve up to 5 business days to consolidate orders for complete shipment.
Expedited Shipments
Orders being shipped via Next Day Air, 2 Day Shipping or 3 Day Shipping must be received by 3 PM EST to guarantee same-day shipments. Expedited orders only ship on normal business days. Shipments will NOT be sent out on Saturdays and Sundays.
