Delivering 250A of thermal-magnetic protection, this 3-pole K-Frame MCCB is built for heavy-duty industrial applications. It utilizes fixed thermal and adjustable magnetic trip settings (LI) to secure critical circuits. Designed for unit-mount applications, it fits Square D enclosures and switchboards. It is replaced by the PowerPacT J-Frame series for newer installations. This model stands out with a factory-installed 120VAC shunt trip and a 1A/1B auxiliary switch for advanced control.

Product FAQs
5 answers
What does the "-1380" suffix mean on the KAL36250-1380?
The "-1380" suffix indicates that this breaker includes a factory-installed 120VAC shunt trip and a 1A/1B auxiliary switch. This configuration provides remote tripping capabilities and circuit status monitoring.
What is the modern replacement for the legacy KAL36250-1380?
The KAL series is a legacy K-Frame breaker. Square D officially replaces this 250A unit-mount breaker with the modern PowerPact J-Frame series, such as the JGL36250. When upgrading, you must verify enclosure compatibility and add the equivalent shunt trip and auxiliary switch accessories.
Can the KAL36250-1380 be installed in an I-Line panelboard?
No. The KAL36250-1380 is a unit-mount, feed-thru circuit breaker. It is designed to be hardwired into Square D enclosures, switchboards, and motor control centers. It lacks the plug-on jaw connections required for I-Line panelboards.
Is the trip unit on the KAL36250-1380 adjustable?
Yes. While the thermal element for long-time overload protection is fixed, the magnetic element for instantaneous short-circuit protection is adjustable. This allows you to fine-tune the trip response for specific loads or motor inrush currents.
Does the KAL36250-1380 provide equipment ground fault protection?
No. This breaker features a standard thermal-magnetic trip unit with LI functions (Long-Time and Instantaneous) for overload and short-circuit protection. It does not include integral ground fault (G) protection.
