Part of the legacy L-Frame series, this 125A molded case circuit breaker delivers advanced electronic protection for commercial and industrial facilities. It installs into Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards, serving as an original component before being replaced by the LLA36250U44X. The unit features a Micrologic trip system with true RMS sensing, offering adjustable long-time and instantaneous settings alongside a ground fault alarm. Rated for 65kAIC at 480VAC.
What types of panelboards accept the LE36125LIA breaker?
This plug-in breaker is designed exclusively for Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards. It mounts directly onto the bus assembly using the integrated plug-on jaw connections, eliminating the need for separate mounting hardware or cable connections to the bus.
What does the LIA designation indicate on the Micrologic trip unit?
The LIA suffix indicates the breaker is equipped with a Micrologic Series B electronic trip unit featuring Long-time and Instantaneous protection, plus a ground fault Alarm. The alarm provides a signal when a ground fault is detected but does not automatically trip the breaker.
Can this electronic trip breaker replace older thermal-magnetic L-frame breakers?
Yes, the LE series shares the same physical footprint and I-Line mounting configuration as legacy LA and LH thermal-magnetic breakers. It can be used as a direct upgrade when electronic trip functions or ground fault alarms are required in an existing I-Line panel.
What wire sizes are supported by the standard lugs on this breaker?
The standard mechanical lugs accept 2 AWG to 500 kcmil aluminum conductors or 2 AWG to 600 kcmil copper conductors. Ensure proper torque specifications are followed during installation to prevent terminal overheating.
Does the ground fault alarm on this breaker provide personnel protection?
No, the ground fault alarm only provides equipment monitoring and signaling. It does not interrupt the circuit upon detecting a ground fault and is not a substitute for GFCI personnel protection.
Does this breaker require a separate rating plug to operate?
The LE36125LIA comes equipped with a factory-installed rating plug that defines its maximum continuous current. While the trip unit itself is non-interchangeable, the rating plug must be securely installed for the breaker to function correctly.
