Part of the legacy L-Frame series, this 250A molded case circuit breaker provides advanced microprocessor-based protection for commercial and industrial facilities. It installs into Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards, utilizing a plug-on design for rapid deployment. While this specific model has been superseded by the PowerPacT LLA36250U44X, it remains a vital component for maintaining existing infrastructure. The integrated Micrologic trip unit offers adjustable LSG functions.
Which panelboards are compatible with the LE36250LSG?
This breaker features an I-Line plug-on connection, making it compatible exclusively with Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards. The line side plugs directly into the panel bus, while the load side uses standard mechanical lugs.
Will this breaker fit in a standard NQ or NF lighting panel?
No. This is an L-frame breaker with an I-Line plug-on connection. It is strictly designed for Square D I-Line power panelboards and will not mount in NQ, NF, or QO series panels.
What wire sizes are supported by the load side lugs?
The factory lugs accept 2 AWG to 500 kcmil aluminum wire or 2 AWG to 600 kcmil copper wire. Always ensure proper torque specifications are followed during installation to prevent thermal issues.
Does this breaker require a separate mounting bracket for I-Line panels?
No. The I-Line mounting style features built-in plug-on jaws that attach directly to the busbar stack in an I-Line panelboard. A retaining bracket is typically included with the panelboard interior to secure the load side of the breaker.
What does the LSG designation mean on this trip unit?
LSG indicates the electronic trip unit features adjustable Long-time, Short-time, and Ground-fault protection. This adjustability allows for precise selective coordination with other breakers in your electrical system.
Is equipment ground fault protection included?
Yes, the G in the LSG trip function code signifies that this breaker includes integrated equipment ground fault protection. This is commonly used to protect sensitive equipment or to meet specific feeder protection requirements.
Can this breaker be applied to a 240V system?
Yes. While it has a maximum rating of 600V, it is fully compatible with 240V and 480V systems. When applied at 240V, the interrupting capacity increases to 100kAIC, offering higher fault current protection.
Is the LE frame still in active production?
The LE series is a legacy molded case circuit breaker. Square D has transitioned to the PowerPact L-frame series for modern applications, though this LE breaker remains a direct fit for existing I-Line installations requiring a replacement.
