Which lug kit is standard for the MHL36800, and what wire sizes does it accept?
The standard mechanical lug kit for the legacy M-Frame MHL36800 is the AL900MA. It accepts three 3/0 AWG to 500 kcmil aluminum or copper conductors per phase. Do not confuse this with the AL800M23K lug kit, which is designed exclusively for newer PowerPact M and P frame breakers.
What does the "H" in the MHL36800 catalog number signify?

While the thermal trip is fixed at 800A, the MHL36800 features an adjustable magnetic (instantaneous) trip function. The AC magnetic trip setting can be adjusted from a low of 4000A to a high of 8000A to coordinate with downstream devices and manage inrush currents.
Is the standard MHL36800 breaker rated for 80 percent or 100 percent continuous duty?
Standard thermal magnetic legacy breakers like the MHL36800 are 80 percent rated. In accordance with National Electrical Code (NEC) guidelines for continuous loads lasting three hours or more, the continuous current should not exceed 640A (80 percent of its 800A rating).
Can I use the MHL36800 in an I-Line panelboard?
No. The MHL36800 is a unit mount (feed-thru) circuit breaker designed for individual enclosures, switchboards, or motor control centers. It does not feature the plug-on jaw connectors required for Square D I-Line panelboards. The I-Line equivalent for this legacy series is the MH36800.
